Attorney
Tia-Marie "Tia" Lane devotes her practice to defending medical professionals and entities in malpractice disputes across Virginia. She prides herself in supporting health care providers through every step of the litigation process with open communication and collaboration.
Before joining Byrne Canaan Law, Tia represented medical professionals and entities at another medical malpractice firm in Virginia, and also previously defended insurance carriers and employers in workers’ compensation actions and premises liability and auto litigation. She has tried cases in General District and Circuit Courts throughout Virginia.
In law school, Tia worked as a student associate in the Family Law Clinic and used her third year practice certificate while working for the Chesterfield Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. She tried her first jury trial as a third year law student.
In addition to her practice, Tia is engaged in professional organizations, including the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, Virginia Bar Association, and Metro Richmond Women’s Bar Association. Tia mentors young female law students through these organizations and thoroughly enjoys having them accompany her during various stages of the legal process as they hone their skills.
When she is not in the office, Tia spends time with her two young children and husband on their farm. They share their space with dogs, goats, cats, and occasionally cows, pigs, and chickens.
