Attorney
Michala D. Black focuses her practice on medical malpractice defense litigation, health regulatory board defense, and white-collar criminal defense. Michala is thorough and passionate in her defense of clients. She uses her LLM in Trial Advocacy to zealously support health care providers through the art of persuasive advocacy in depositions, negotiations, and state and federal court proceedings. The National Black Lawyers has recognized Michala as a “Top 40 under 40” black attorney in Virginia since 2022.
Prior to joining the firm, Michala was a civil litigator representing clients in a variety of consumer finance matters in addition to government and regulatory-related matters in Virginia and Pennsylvania. Michala also served as an attorney and intern at many government offices where she gained experience working as a trial attorney advocating in court proceedings, negotiating offers, and collaborating with court officials.
Michala graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School, where she participated in the Black Law Students Association and Mock Trial team. While attending law school, Michala was selected as a Branstetter Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution fellow.
Michala is committed to maintaining a robust pro bono practice and is active in the community. Throughout her practice, she regularly assists projects in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Innocence Project.
